AWARDS

Hasan Oğuz Güzel

Hasan Oğuz Güzel, one of our Economics Department students, received the Turkish Economic Association (TEK) award for his paper titled “Analysis of the Competitive Strength of High-Tech Goods in Emerging Economies and Turkey’s Position” and was awarded the Turkish Economic Association (TEK) prize.

 

 Erdem Yenerdağ

Erdem Yenerdağ, one of our students in the Department of Economics, received the Ege Finance Association Award at the Ege University Economics Students’ Congress held on May 7–9, 2014, for his paper titled “The Impact of the Financialization Process in Turkey on Economic Growth and Industrialization.”

 

İbrahim Ciddi

İbrahim Ciddi, one of our Economics Department students, received the Ege Finance Association Award at the Ege University Economics Students’ Congress held on May 7–9, 2014, for his paper titled “A Comparison of Commercial Banks in the Turkish Banking Sector Using the CAMELS Analysis and the Effects of Local and Global Crises on Bank Performance”  and was awarded the Aegean Finance Association Award.

 

Süleyman TAŞKAZAN

Süleyman TAŞKAZAN, one of our Economics Department students, won the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) Award at the 16th International Congress of Economics Students, organized by Ege University between April 24–26, 2013, and won the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) Award for his paper titled “Street Vending as a Solution to Unemployment.”


Mürüvvet AKAR

Mürüvvet AKAR, one of our master’s students, won the TCMB Award for her thesis titled “The Effects of Globalization on Wage and Income Inequality in Turkey, and was awarded the First Prize in the Master’s Category at the 2012 Research/Thesis Awards competition organized by the Turkish Economic Association.

 

Oğuzhan AKGÜN

Our Economics Department graduate and Master’s student Oğuzhan AKGÜN, who presented a paper at the 15th International Congress of Economics Students, organized by Ege University between April 25–27, 2012, our Economics Department graduate and Master’s student Oğuzhan AKGÜN received the received the CBRT Special Award.

 

Düzgün KILIÇ

took second place with his paper titled “The 2008 Global Financial Crisis: Aftermath and Its Implications for Europe,” which he presented at the “Economics Summit-Essay Contest” held at Boğaziçi University on April 10–11, 2012.

 

Dilara KAPUKAYA

She was one of four finalists in the essay contest titled “Women and Urbanization,” organized by the Turkish Association of University Women to mark International Women’s Day on March 8, for her essay titled “The Woman Who Could Not Urbanize.”

 

Gökçe DAĞLI & Düzgün KILIÇ

Our Economics Department students Gökçe DAĞLI and Düzgün KILIÇ, who presented papers at the 14th International Congress of Economics Students held by Ege University from May 11–13, 2011, received the Nobel Publications Award for their study titled “The Intra-Industry Trade Profile of Turkey’s Manufacturing Sector.”

 

Harun YORULMAZLAR

The “8th Economics Students’ Congress,” held between April 20–22, 2005, in collaboration with the Faculties of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Ege University and Dokuz Eylül University, he won the Ege Industrialists and Businessmen Association Achievement Award for his paper titled “The Movement of Capital and Labor Within the EU and Its Implications for Turkey as a Candidate Country.” 

 

Fikret ÖZER

At the “9th International Congress of Economics Students,” held between April 26–28, 2006, by students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Ege University, for his paper titled “Turkey in the Negotiation Process with the European Union and Environmental Barriers Encountered in Trade,” and was awarded the Ege Industrialists and Businessmen Association Achievement Award

 

Ahmet AKTAŞ                                                 

He placed third in the Scientific Research Competition titled “The Impact of Taxes and Incentives on Attracting Foreign Investment to the Country,” organized by the Foreign Capital Association (YASED) in September 2006. 

 

Hakan YILMAZ                

At the 10th Economics Students’ Congress, held by Ege University on May 3–4, 2007, for his paper titled “The Test of Technology in Sustainable Development,” and was awarded the National Productivity Center Achievement Award

 

N. Barış VARDAR

In the XIIth Foreign Trade Youth Congress Essay Contest organized by IGEME (Center for Export Development Studies), he was one of six students to receive an award for his essay titled “New Horizons in Turkey’s Exports: New Products – New Markets,” he was one of six students to receive an award.

Dinçer Yılmaztürk

Dinçer Yılmaztürk, one of our Economics Department students, successfully presented his paper titled “A Goal Scored from the Crisis” at the Ege University Economics Students’ Congress held on May 7–9, 2014.

 

Selin Alabaş

Selin Alabaş, one of our Economics Department students, successfully presented her paper titled “The ‘Othered’ Entity in the Economy: Those Not Born as Women or Men" at the Ege University Economics Students’ Congress held on May 7–9, 2014.

 

Erdem YENERDAĞ

Erdem YENERDAĞ, a third-year student in our Department of Economics, presented a paper at the 10th International Student Conference, organized by İzmir University of Economics on April 14–15, 2014, to support empirical research in the social sciences. At the conference, where 320 papers were submitted and 61 were accepted, our student successfully presented his paper titled “The Effects of Financialization on Countries’ Economic Growth Rate, Industrialization Level, and R&D Expenditures," and we wish her continued success. 

 

Begüm EREN

Begüm EREN, one of our Economics Department students, successfully presented her study titled “The Restructuring of the Turkish Electricity Market” at the 16th International Congress of Economics Students, organized by Ege University from April 24–26, 2013.

 

Gökçe DAĞLI

Begüm EREN, one of our graduate students in the Department of Economics, successfully presented her paper titled “Women’s Labor and Development” at the 16th International Economics Students’ Congress organized by Ege University between April 24–26, 2013.

 

Caner ÖZDURAK 


His book titled “Time Series Applications in Financial Economics: An Alliance of the Real Sector and the Financial Sector” was published by Lambert Academic Publishing.

He successfully presented his paper titled “The Effects of Capital Inflows on Growth and Other Macroeconomic Dynamics in Turkey After the 2001 Crisis” at the 3rd International Student Conference organized by İzmir University of Economics on April 13–14, 2007.                       

He successfully presented his paper titled “Asymmetric Information in Labor Markets” at the International Student Conference organized by İzmir Economy University on May 24–25, 2006.

 

Oğuzhan AKGÜN

He successfully presented his paper titled “Does Openness Promote Industrialization or Does Industry Spur Openness? (The Turkish Case)” at the 7th International Student Conference organized by Izmir University of Economics.

 

Umut ÇELİK

He was a member of one of the two teams that made it to the finals in the 9th Garanti Talent Camp, a competition open to 40 students from across Turkey deemed eligible, where creativity in banking activities is encouraged and the winning team’s idea will be implemented by Garanti Bank.
