Conference: 3rd Annual International Conference on Social Sciences
YTU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Held the Third International Social Sciences Conference.
“3rd Annual International Conference on Social Sciences” was held on 26-27 October 2017, organized by our faculty. The conference started with the opening ceremony at the Prof. Dr. Murat Demircioğlu Conference Hall in our faculty building as of 10:00 on October 26.
After the opening speeches of our Faculty Dean Prof. Kenan AYDIN and Vice Rector of our University Prof. Yucel ŞAHİN, the program continued with Prof. Asaf Savaş AKAT's speech titled "Globalization, Institutions and Economics: Observations and Forecasts".
Contrary to our first two conferences, this conference was attended by countries such as Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, India, and Oman rather than European countries.
The sessions of our conference, which took place on October 26-27, were held with the intense participation of graduate and undergraduate students and faculty members.
Special thanks to our Rector Prof Bahri Sahin, Vice Rector Prof Yücel Şahin, Technopark General Manager Prof Mesut Güner, Öztiryakiler General Manager Yüksel Yalçın for their support of our International Conference.

Conference: 2nd Annual International Conference on Social Sciences
“2nd Annual International Conference on Social Sciences” organized by our faculty was held on 02-04 June 2016. The conference started with the opening ceremony on 02 June at 10:00 at the Prof. Dr. Murat Demircioğlu Conference Hall in our faculty building. Prof Samuel Bowles from Santa Fe Institute gave the opening speech.
A total of 91 papers were presented in parallel sessions in the Conference, where a total of 105 participants from the USA, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Ethiopia, France, South Africa, Georgia, India, Iran, England, Pakistan, Spain, Norway, Poland and Turkey were present.
The gala dinner of the conference was held in Otağ-ı Hümayun, one of the historical places of Davutpaşa Campus, on the evening of 3 June 2016.

In its 80th Anniversary, John M. Keynes' General Theory was Evaluated
In the panel organized by the Department of Economics in Prof. Dr. Murat Demircioğlu Conference Hall on 12/5/2016, Prof. Asaf Savaş Akat, Prof. Ercan Eren and Prof. Erhan Aslanoğlu re-evaluated the General Theory in its 80th Anniversary as the Criticisms of John M. Keynes on Expansionary Economic Policies and Freedom of Capital Movements in his General Theory published in 1936 gained importance after the 2008 Financial Crisis.

Our Founding Dean Prof. Dr. Murat Demircioğlu's Name Has Been Given to Our Conference Hall
The Conference Hall B in the newly constructed modern building with all kinds of physical facilities on the Davutpaşa Campus of our faculty was named "Prof. Dr. Murat Demircioğlu Conference Hall" with the ceremony. Prof. Dr. Demircioğlu was the Founding Dean of our Faculty and served as a Member of the Faculty Board and a Member of the University Senate for many years.
YTU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Yüksek, Vice-Rectors, Deans, Institute Managers and other Board Members and Şişe-Cam Board Chairman Mr. Ersin Özince, Retired Member of the Constitutional Court Prof. Dr. Fazıl Sağlam, former Chairman of the Board of THY, Cem Kozlu, Board members of İşbank, Şişe Cam and Trakya Cam companies, senior executives, faculty members from outside the university, members of the press, YTU faculty members, staff and students attended the ceremony.
Our Rector Prof Dr İsmail Yüksek, our dean Prof Dr Kenan Aydın, Prof Dr Murat Demircioğlu, Retired Dean of Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Nurullah Gültekin and former President of İşbank and Chairman of Şişe-Cam Ersin Özince opened the "Prof Dr Murat Demircioğlu Conference Hall" .
In the speeches made at the ceremony; Rector Prof Dr İsmail Yüksek stated that they served on the Board of Directors for seven years together with Prof Dr A Murat Demircioğlu and that they always benefited from them. Ersin Özince, Chairman of Şişecam, emphasized that Demircioğlu provided important services in İşbank subsidiaries. Retired Dean of Engineering Faculty Prof. Dr. Nurullah Gültekin talked about Demircioğlu's work during and after the establishment of FEAS. Prof. Dr. Kutay Özaydın, Retired Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, stated that he never opposed and supported the establishment of FEAS. Prof Dr A Murat Demircioğlu stated that he was extremely pleased that such a hall was given my name when he was alive.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Prof Dr Kenan Aydın, stated that Prof Dr A Murat Demircioğlu had many services in different positions of the university. In Aydın's speech; Emphasizing the motto "Ingenuity is subject to compliment", he stated that it is important to appreciate the services rendered and that the hall was named after Prof Dr A Murat Demircioğlu on this occasion.
Prof Dr Kenan Aydın referred to the late Sakıp Sabancı, who left a mark on Turkish business life, and stated that Sabancı is constantly and increasingly full of desire to work more at every opportunity: “This work is not for making more money. Because I have enough money for my great-grandchildren without working. But the desire to succeed motivates me to work. I always want to achieve something more. It's like a football player wanting to score another goal, an artist making another piece.”
This need is the need to be the best one can be. There is no end to it. It is the need for "self-actualization" that Maslow states in his hierarchy of needs. As it is satisfied, it starts to increase rather than decrease. For example, the need for hunger ends after the individual eats the food, albeit for a while. But self-actualization is not like that. For example, an athlete who is the champion of Turkey strives to become the champion of Europe first and then the world, noting that there is a constant need for self-realization as well as the motivation provided by the appreciation of the work.

A protocol was signed between Yıldız Technical University and Turkish Petroleum Thrace Regional Directorate on 12 February 2016 on BUSINESS MANAGEMENT MASTER EDUCATION. The protocol was signed by our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail YÜKSEK and Turkish Petroleum Thrace Regional Director Murat HACIHALİLOĞLU at the Rectorate Building of our University.
Our Honorable Dean Prof DrKenan AYDIN, Head of the Department of Business Administration, Prof Dr Salih DURER, Associate Professor Emre AKBAŞ, Sabriye ÇAM and Mustafa AĞIR from TPAO attended the signing ceremony.
The Non-Thesis Master of Business Administration Program started on February 15, 2016 with the participation of Prof Dr Kenan AYDIN and faculty members Prof Dr Salih DURER, Associate Professor Emre AKBAŞ and Associate Professor Pınar BÜYÜKBALCI.
