As part of the Center for Strategic Studies’ events, a panel discussion titled “Migrants in Turkey: Comparisons and Experiences” was held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, in the Prof. Dr. Murat Demircioğlu Conference Hall at our Faculty. The panel, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Büyükbalcı, Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, featured Dr. Hasret Saygı from Maltepe University, shared her findings regarding the “perception of women” dimension from her research on Iraqi Turkmen migrants. Dr. Selda Adiloğlu, Assistant Professor at Bursa Technical University, Selda Adiloğlu and Research Assistant Sercan Eklemezler from Bursa Technical University shared the results of their research on Yörük migrants in the Bursa region and migrants in the Macedonia-Kosovo region, and discussed the participation of female migrants in the labor market. Finally, Prof. Dr. Dilek Zamantılı Nayır from Marmara University provided information about a project she conducted in collaboration with KOSGEB. She shared insights into the business startup process of Syrian migrant entrepreneurs. In this context, she specifically evaluated “bricolage” strategies. Our panel was attended by the Dean of our Faculty, Prof. Dr. Kenan Aydın; the Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, Prof. Dr. Meral Uzunöz; the Director of the BALKAR Center, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hacısalihoğlu; and the Assistant Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, Assoc.
